Welcome to the website of our holiday and care farm "de Lange Dunen" at Ballum (Ameland). Holiday farm "de Lange Dunen" is located exactly in between Ballum and Hollum. The name of our accommodation is derived from nature reserve "Lange Duinen", which is located directly behind the farm. The "Lange Duinen" is a free accessible nature reserve that is opened up by two footpath's  west-east and three footpath's north-south. Nature reserve the "Lange Duinen" and the corresponding beach is part of an experiment to maintain the area dynamic; that is why your will see freaky blowholes and tidal creeks during your walk on the beach.

Who are we?
Our family consists of 3 persons: Ingrid Kamminga, Sieds Tuinenga and Jildou Tuinenga. We are the proud owners/operators of "de Lange Dunen". Ingrid owns Riding Sport Shop "Peadespul"(also located at "de Lange Dunen") and next to her activities as a riding instructor she is very active in the riding sport herself, as a rider and a horse driver. Sieds was (except owner/operator of "de Lange Dunen") a teacher at an agrarian school on the mainland with 40 years of experience, which comes in handy with the care-children. Ingrid has also teaching experience and works with the care-children. Daughter Jildou is going to high school and is an active member of LR Ameland (continue reading below the picture).

What do we have to offer?
For renting an accommodation for groups or several holiday houses "de Lange Dunen" is the right address. If desired we take care of your breakfast, lunch and/or diner or we organize a barbeque for you (inside or outside). Please contact us and ask what is possible!

We also try to guide children with a care- or help need. With their schools and the ambulant accompaniment we look at the possibilities of the children and what the children can do and what they like. Our holiday and care farm has also possibilities for respite care with individual accompaniment in weekends and holidays.

Riders who want to take along their horse on their holiday, can hire a stable or land at our farm. We have an outside riding school, 10 stables and lots of land. To go to the beach with your horse you don't have to cross roads; from "de Lange Dunen" you can go straight to the beach.

At the riding sport shop "Peadespul" you can find riding sport articles for a very advantageous price. We have just about everything for riders and horse drivers. We are specialized in harnesses and other stuff for riding with a sledge.

You can also contact our company for bridal- and funeral rides. For bridal rides several carriages are available, for funeral rides a magnificent antique funeral coach.We also have an oldtimer, a Citroen Traction Avant.  If you want more information or when you want to take a look, please contact us.

Since Januari 2010 is the AMELANDER LINNENVERHUUR part of our holiday farm. With us you can rent your linen against fair prices. This prevents a lot of luggage dragging.  The linen rental is for our own guests as well as for guests elsewhere on the island and for lessors of holiday houses and group accommodations.
